Tesla Veteran Hired as New Executive for Palo Alto-based Systems Startup

PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 12, 2019  SambaNova Systems, the company building the industry’s most advanced systems platform to run artificial intelligence (AI) applications from the datacenter to the edge, today announced Jonathan Chang has joined the company as General Counsel, reporting to CEO Rodrigo Liang.

Jonathan brings over 20 years of experience in building high-growth technology companies to SambaNova Systems. He joins the emerging startup after nearly nine years at Tesla, where he served in various leadership roles and most recently as General Counsel, leading the company’s legal, policy and regulatory teams.

Jonathan earned his Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California, and holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He began his legal career at Latham & Watkins in Silicon Valley before going in-house to lead legal and business functions at Lithium Technologies and Tesla. Prior to entering the legal field, Jonathan developed his technical expertise as an engineer and entrepreneur.
